Who we supportEveryone involved in the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade is immensely proud of what we have achieved and the amount of money we have raised for UK breast cancer charities. Breakthrough Breast Cancer![]() Avon and Breakthrough have worked in partnership since 1992 during which time the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade has raised almost £11 million for the charity. Early funding made a major contribution to the charity’s initial goal of establishing the first dedicated breast cancer research centre in the UK and subsequently has continued to fund their ongoing research programme which is already making a difference to women in terms of diagnosis and treatment. The ultimate goal is to eradicate breast cancer by discovering the causes of the disease and developing methods of prevention. Breakthrough Breast Cancer is committed to fighting breast cancer through research and education. Breast Cancer Care![]() In 2005, Avon extended its activities to support those living with breast cancer by funding the work of 32 ‘peer supporters’, part of a nationwide network run by Breast Cancer Care. These are women who have gone through breast cancer themselves and then trained to help others, sharing their experience and providing a valuable listening and support service. Free confidential information can be obtained by calling the charity’s Helpline on 0808 800 6000 which can also put you in touch with a peer supporter near you. Breast Cancer Care provides information, practical assistance and emotional support for anyone affected by breast cancer. Macmillan Cancer Support![]() Between 1994 and 1997 Avon teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support to help women facing breast cancer in a practical way. About £1.6 million was raised to recruit and train 15 specialist Macmillan breast care nurses across the UK. Macmillan Cancer support improves the lives of people affected by cancer through practical, medical, emotional and financial means. |
"It is a testament to Avon's long term commitment and vision, as well as the dedication of their employees, Representatives and customers that they have now raised an astounding £11 million for Breakthrough Breast Cancer over the 15 years that they have been supporting us. I would like to thank everyone who is a part of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Your continued support is vital to reach our vision of a future free from the fear of breast cancer." Jeremy Hughes, "When women who have breast cancer contact us with a specific concern, often the best way we can respond is by putting them in touch with other women who have been through the same experiences. Many women have found this to be enormously valuable in helping them cope with their diagnosis and treatment, so we are very grateful to Avon for helping us develop this crucial service for women across the UK with breast cancer." Marcus O'Shea "The enthusiasm and creativity of Avon staff and customers alike has been overwhelming. Their commitment to breast cancer has seen thousands of women and their families benefitting from the very special care provided by our Macmillan breast care nurses" Edward Hodgkins,
